We were contacted by castle point borough council to coat the internal surfaces of two pools and the walkways of a public swimming pool on Canvey island, Essex as part of a major refurbishment.

The job consisted of various phases to be completed in coordination with other contractors working on site during the scope of our works. Both pools, the drainage channels around the both pools and all the walkway surfaces were prepared to create a suitable mechanical key and both pools needed specialist anti-corrosion treatment before coating could commence.

Areas of both pools had corrosion points that had to be removed and infilled with a specialist zinc based anti corrosion primer and resin mortar. Large areas of the walkways also needed infilling where the old flume had been removed leaving large voids. In addition, a specialist coat of resin was applied to the walkways to combat porosity.

Once all the preparation had been completed the main coating to the two pools commenced, with an anti-slip treatment being added to the main steps of the learner pool and to the exit steps for both pools. Once cured, the lane marking lines were reinstated in contrasting colours.

Finally the main coating was applied to the walkways and drainage channels, with the walkways having a light anti-slip finish.
