Overseas Tank Floor Lining Service

World Wide Tank Lining Service

For many years we have been involved in overseas tank lining projects and corrosion prevention treatments, working in various countries in Eastern Europe, the Far East, the Mediterranean, South Pacific and the Indian Ocean areas offering an economical, cost effective tank lining supply and installation service together with on-site technical support to our clients.

We offer an overseas internal tank lining service or a part tank lining service to almost anywhere in the World. Part tank lining, is often used for the repair of bulk fuel storage tanks where the tank floor or the bottom section of a tank has been damaged or corroded by water condensate settling on the floor of the tank. When treating a tank floor, normally we would extend the treatment to include the 1m to 1.5m of the lower tank wall.

Typically the part tank lining treatment, tank floors, would be applied on site to bulk fuel storage tanks, such as aviation fuel tanks, bulk diesel fuel tanks and bulk petrol storage tanks.”

Our tank lining service is ideal for remote locations, where the logistics or costs involved in replacing the lower wall section and floor of a tank with new steel is either impractical, time or cost prohibitive. Even taking into account our flights, shipping costs and accommodation etc, relining an existing tank is normally a very cost effective, economical solution to a serious problem and is certainly much faster and cheaper than replacing a tank or steel sections within a tank.

We use epoxy resin and other specialised tank lining materials that have been especially developed or modified for use in tropical conditions, many incorporating strong anti-corrosion properties. With our treatments, it is not uncommon for our treatment to extend the practical working life of a tank for a further 20 plus years.

Flexible Service

We can fly out to inspect a tank lining project, but frequently we have been able to accurately determine what is required and offer a cost effective, workable solution and price for a job via e-mails and photographs, thus offering our clients a considerable saving of both time and money.

The required materials and application equipment are either shipped out by container or flown out on pallets in advance of the work. Prior to the start of the works two technical engineers then fly out from the UK to the job site. There they will confirmed the initial assessment of the problem, then depending on what was agreed, we would either carry out all the works ourselves with our own labour or oversee the surface preparation and cleaning of the tank as well as the application of the materials by local labour.

To keep costs to a minimum we often work in conjunction with our client’s own or local labour and our client’s preferred local contractors. We would supply and ship all materials and any specialised application equipment required. We would carry out quality control and testing of the new lining and supply full on-site project supervision and on-site technical support throughout the entire project.

Alternatively we handle the whole project. We would send out all the equipment and materials required for the entire project and also supply our own labour and site supervision.

It has often been our experience that many companies can provide very good materials, but few can deliver the full package that we at Specialist Industrial Coatings Ltd being an independent company, are able to offer. Often for a single project we will source materials from several different suppliers.Bulk fuel storage tanks, even those with heavily corroded floor plate sections, the floor and lower section of the tank wall (normally 1m – 1.5m of the wall or up to the first plate section), are treated in approximately two to three weeks, (depending upon the size of the tank this could vary and be slightly longer for larger tanks), and the tank returned to normal service 48 hours following completion of our works (subject to materials used and ambient temperature conditions)

Internal tank lining work is a specialised process and requires specialist knowledge and specialist materials and procedures. World wide there are not many companies dealing with internal tank lining and Specialist Industrial Coatings Ltd is one of the few.

Our extensive experience in internal tank lining enables us to work on other specialist internal coating applications such as the coating of a food process plant in the Seychelles. Click here to see case study

For many projects there are a number of specific technical requirements and characteristics that the lining materials must be able to perform to.

The materials that we use have been approved, specified and used on projects by:
