| Q.
How much does lining or relining a tank cost in relation to replacing
the tank ?
A. It has been estimated by clients who have used
our services that according to their calculations, the cost of having
their carbon steel tanks relined is less than 10% of the cost of
replacing their tanks, like for like, with tanks made from stainless
steel.
Q. Is your work guaranteed and if so for how
long?
A. All our work is guaranteed. The length of the guarantee depends
upon the operation conditions of the vessel. It could be from 12
months to 10 years.
Q. Are you able to line concrete vessels?
A. Yes. Concrete tanks coated previously unlined or lined with wax,
black linings i.e. thermoplastic materials, can be lined or relined
using our systems. Following the application of our lining the vessels
can be easily cleaned and are CO2 leak-proof.
Q. I have many beer production tanks that I
would like to reline. How long can we expect the new lining to last?
A. The design life of the materials we are now using will give brewery
production tanks a practical working life of approximately 50 years,
if treated in the correct manner.
Q. I have two stainless steel sugar tanks in
my brewery, The steel is starting to breakdown / crystallise. Can
you apply your lining to these vessels?
A. There is no problem in applying our technology to stainless steel
vessels.
Q. What are the benefits of using your lining
in our vessels?
A. Our lining systems give a mirror-smooth glossy surface, and help
to improve the quality of your product by reducing contamination
risks, enabling ease of cleaning, reducing the quantity of chemicals
used during general cleaning, beer stone removal and sterilisation
procedures.
Electron microscope comparison of steel and treated surfaces.
The smoother finish reduces bacteriological build up.
A comment frequently made to us by our clients was that after the
application of the new lining they were better able to maintain
a constantly higher standard of beer quality with no variation in
taste factors.
Q. How long does it normally take to reline
a room of tanks, say 10 tanks of 40m2 each?
A. Normally around 2 to 3 weeks.
Q. Will your works cause disruption to our normal
production routine?
A. We have many years of working together with "live"
breweries and production plants, and we understand that it is your
business to maintain ongoing production. We always try to be flexible
and will fit in with your own production requirements. Normally
we get on with our work with the minimum of inconvenience and, for
the most part, you hardly know we are there.
Q. Will there be any dust or mess created during
your work?
A. Unfortunately, the very nature of our work does create some dust
and mess, but we contain it to the immediate area where we are working
by sealing off the section or the tank. We use dust extraction and
filtration equipment and we always clean up after ourselves prior
to leaving the site.
Q. Do we have to use any special chemicals
or procedures when cleaning or sterilising tanks lined with your
lining system?
A. Generally all the normally accepted cleaning and sterilisation
practices can be used with our lining systems. However we do advise
that you send us a list of the chemicals, concentrations and contact
times that you normally use. So far we have not encountered any
problems.
Q. What is the thickness of your lining?
A. Depending upon which product we are using, it is between 500
and 600 microns, with a minimum of 450 microns.
Q. Will there be any smell or
taint from the new lining?
A. No. We normally use a 100 % solids cold curing epoxy resin based
medium that is completely free from solvent, taint or smell. |
