Crouch Vale Brewery: Chemical Bund Lining and Chemical Resistant Anti-slip Flooring

Crouch Vale Brewery produces award-winning real ales.

The Client

Due to its ongoing success, the company decided to build a new production area to cope with the increased demand for its beers.

We were commissioned to coat bunded areas so production could commence as quickly as possible.

Challenges

  • Our client required our services immediately; a request we were able to fulfil.
  • We were to coat a small bunded wall area and create a chemical-resistant anti-slip floor surface within the brewery.
  • The work had to be carried out over a weekend so as not to disrupt production.

Solution

We began by abrading the floor with diamond grinders to create a strong mechanical key. We also abraded the bund wall using handheld grinders.

Following this initial preparation, we applied a primer with a layer of course quartz sand to increase the inter-coat adhesion and provide an anti-slip finish.

Once all surface preparation was complete, we applied several top coats of chemically resistant floor coating resin.

The Results

The work was carried out over a weekend in order to minimise downtime. The resulting finish gave the brewery a safe working area in a light pleasing colour, which was durable and easy to clean.
